E + S’s Bellingham Wedding on Private Property
E&S were a wedding coordination client which means they did most of the planning themselves, but we provided guidance throughout the process and stepped in 3 months before the wedding day to wrap up the final details.
E&S wanted a big party for their wedding and they decided the best place for that was on E’s parents property. There was already a barn, gazebo and garden onsite, so with the addition of a tent, bathrooms and dance floor they had a beautiful space to hold their celebration. August weather in the Pacific Northwest is usually a sure thing. However on this day, it sprinkled a bit in the morning, giving us a scare. We lucked out and the mixed weather actually provided some drama with rays of sun through the clouds adding mood lighting.
The groom is Indian and many of his friends and family traveled from Vancouver to celebrate. His family helped coordinate the traditional cultural events that took place the week of the wedding.
The groom and his groomsmen got ready in the barn while the bride and bridesmaid got ready in the family house on the property.
E&S opted to do a first look and said private vows to each other before the ceremony.
They followed a Southern tradition of burying a bottle of alcohol a month before the wedding to ensure good weather on the day of their celebration.
Most guests stayed in downtown Bellingham and the couple hired the Baker Bus to transport guests to the property. Once all guests arrived, the ceremony began.
E wanted confetti thrown after the ceremony as they recessed down the aisle. As these were going to be little pieces of material that are hard to clean-up we made sure that the confetti was biodegradable and would quickly disintegrate in the next rainfall.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour while additional family photos were taken. Guests were then ushered under the tent for dinner, toasts and dancing. The Bride and Groom’s close friends planned a surprise flash mob during the dance.
We loved working with E&S to make their day special and run smoothly. We helped them turn their private property into a venue that was comfortable for their guests and made sure that they thought of everything to ensure their day was a success. They had a large number of guests (200+) so we worked with them to think through guest flow, parking, bathroom access, transportation and floor plans.
Eco-friendly actions that the couple took:
Guests were shuttled to and from the property from Bellingham by a bus service
The decor was borrowed from a friend. Tables, chairs, plates, silverware and glasses were rented.
The flowers were from a local flower farm
The confetti was biodegradable
The caterer used in-season produce for the meal
